What kind of make up do you use?

There is a range of beauty products in every stylists kit. Each artist is a little bit different from the other but mostly we use MAC (Which stands for make up artist cosmetics) and many Honolulu makeup artists stock their kit with products from MAC because they have a ranged for every skin tone since it was originally developed for the make up artist. Of course we have many other products that are our favorites from other lines like YSL, Lancôme, Bare Minerals, and many more.

Do you do airbrush make up?

Yes we do air brush make up. It is one of the many types of make up that we include in our make up kit.

Is air brush make up better than other make up?

It depends on the individual. Some people like airbrush make up better and other people like traditional make up better. Many make up artists only stock their kit with air brush make up now and they like to say that it’s better. A good make up artist stocks their kit with not only air brush make up; but also with liquids, creams, powders, mineral, moisturizers with tint and full coverage make up. That way every client gets what’s best for their skin and and the look that they’re going for.

I’ve heard air brush make up last longer than other make up is this true?

Professional make up artists have primers, setting sprays, and techniques to make all types of make up last throughout the day and evening of your wedding or event. You don’t need to use only air brush make up for a long lasting look.

Should I have a trial session?

It’s nice for the bride to be able to have a trial session prior to your wedding day especially if you’re trying something brand new with your hair or make up. For many destination brides; it’s hard to make time for a trial session. If you can’t; don’t worry; we can schedule a little extra time on your wedding day to go over your look prior to starting hair and make up. Good pictures go along way! Make sure if you don’t get a trial session (or even if you do) that you have pictures of what you want.

When should I schedule a trial session?

You should schedule your trial session close to your wedding day. If you’re a destination bride you’ll have a limited time and we’ll schedule it whenever you can. If your a local bride within three months is suggested. What’s in fashion changes from year-to-year so getting a trial session too far out is not recommended. You may change your mind as your wedding gets closer! That being said; some destination brides travel to the Hawaiian islands many months before the wedding and feel more comfortable getting a trial session then.

Can you put in clip in extensions on the wedding day?

Absolutely, you should bring your extensions and let us know ahead of time because we will need extra time for clip in extensions.

Anything I should know for my wedding day?

Yes the bride, bridal party, and family members getting hair and make up services should have clean dry hair washed the night before and clean faces. If you’re having a sunset wedding; you might want to wash and dry your hair the morning of the wedding. The days of having dirty hair are long gone! We have products now to create volume and texture. Also, unless you have frizzy hair, don’t over moisturize your hair after washing because it can create flat hair that is difficult to hold a curl. Using a volumizing spray or mousse to add volume before you blow your hair dry is good. Layering product ensures longer-lasting hairstyles.
For your face; you don’t want to layer on moisturizers and sunscreen. In our humid climate too many products are not good. Let us start with a clean face to ensure your make up will last.
The bride as well as the bridal party should bring pictures of hair and make up that they like. That will ensure that you get exactly the look that you want. It is important when choosing pictures to pick faces who have similar features as you.
